Monday is a very important day for festival participants. There are auditions for Golden Boat competition in Dom Theatre.
We would like to invite you to take part in BAŁAŁAJKI concert in the evening.
”MUSIC OF NATIONS” is a concert for folklore passionates. Original instruments played by members of the ensemble are very attractive. There will also be music folklore known from the screen.
The concert will take place in Dom Theatre (243 Piotrkowska).
Admission is free.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
BAŁAŁAJKI is an ensemble of 50-year history, joining univerisy and school students. Barbara Sobolczyk is an artistic director. The musicians play unusual instruments: balalaikas,domras, guitars, oboe, zaliejkas (pipes) percussion.
The repertoire comprises stylizations of Slavonic folk melodies, pieces deriving from Greek folklore (Grek Zorba by Theodorakis), American pieces ( ragtime ”The Entertainer” by Joplin) as well as arrangements of classical and popular music.
The ensemble stays in constant cooperation with music centres here and abroad –Lodz and Poznań Philharmonic, Russia, F rance, Germany, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Ukraine. It is a member of Balalajka and Domra Association of America.
